Gridlinked Review — A Wild Sci-Fi Ride with One Major Flaw

I don’t remember exactly where I picked up Gridlinked—probably an airport, which explains why it sat on my shelf for years before I finally read it.

Now that I have… it’s a solid sci-fi read.

Set in the Polity—a massive AI-governed interstellar civilization—the story follows Agent Ian Cormac as he investigates a catastrophic event that wiped out an entire planet. What starts as sabotage quickly escalates into something much bigger.

What works:
The worldbuilding is incredible. The Polity feels alive, expansive, and dangerous. The action ramps up hard and keeps things engaging. And the concepts—AI, augmentation, alien tech—are just fun.

What doesn’t:
The characters didn’t fully land for me. And the heavy hard sci-fi exposition made it tough to track at times.

Final Score: 7/10

If you like idea-driven sci-fi, this is worth your time. Just be ready to push through some dense sections.
